Lyrics for Song Samples
Here are the lyrics for the song samples. I'm glad you liked them enough to want to see the whole message. You are welcome to print these lyrics and share them in any way that might help. All I ask is that you credit the source. But I'd encourage you to do one better -- order my CD by going to the Product Page and follow the Purchase Instructions so you can hear the song and maybe use it in one of your events. Or Better Yet: invite me to write a special song for your group or event and perform it live with your group.
Children are the Future
©2005, Kim Ratz, Written for presentation given to
Association of Alaska School Boards 2005 Conference
(1) Whatever happened to those good old days for kids,
when you could trust they'd be safe and surrounded by innocence?
When most of us were young we still had the proverbial village bringing us up.
But too many kids today have been abandoned & have little more than luck.
(Chorus) Children are the future, they should be top priority.
If we don't do our best with them now, we can predict how tomorrow might be.
But if everyone in every school-community
does all we can to raise great kids, can you imagine how THAT could be?
(2) Raising kids has been a sacred trust since our first ancestors -
that we adults help raise children and do our own parents one better.
But too many parents, seem to loose touch with their kids along the way.
And it only gets worse when they don't have a village to help them along the way.
(CHORUS)
(3) Blessed are the people who work on behalf of the children.
You're making tomorrow better for the world we'll all live in.
But there's still much work to do and people to recruit.
So let's all make kids our priority and be amazed at what we can do.
(CHORUS)

Hand in Hand Together We Build a Better World,
Lyrics & Music ©Kim Ratz 2006
(1) Sometimes in our turbulent world, we feel troubled and tossed.
We think about those "good old days" and wonder how they got lost?
But then we look at a child and they're resilient and able to cope.
'Cause children are and always will be a source of hope.
Chorus: Working with kids is like a construction zone.
'Cause every blessed one is busy building themself into their own.
So our work with kids builds the future and helps it unfurl,
as "hand in hand together we build a better world."
(2) We wonder what will become of the children we meet?
Who might end up rich or famous or normal or in the street?
The answer to that question unfolds each and every day.
So the head start you give them is a boost in a hopeful way.
(CHORUS)
3. So let us be resolved to greet each and every day
in a way through what we do & say to every child we meet along the way.
You are the future, today's boys and girls,
so c'mon everybody let's build that better world.
We can do it! (CHORUS)
